Talisker Skye

Talisker Skye was introduced in early 2015, named after the beautiful island on which the distillery resides. This expression brings with it a more well-rounded and sweet flavour profile packed with fresh citrus, sweet smoke, peppery spice and traditional Talisker maritime notes.

Talisker Skye is matured in a combination of refill and toasted American oak casks, with a slightly higher proportion of toasted casks. Talisker Skye whisky is perfect for those who perhaps find the classic Talisker flavour profile a bit too much, not to say that Talisker fans won't enjoy it too.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Sweet stuff, toffees and vanilla ice cream up front, almost grain-like. Becomes increasingly honeyed. There's a little coastal influence here too, just hints of a sweet Caol Ila perhaps, with very restrained smoke.

Palate Honeyed toasted oak, sappy wood, only a little pepper and smoke, apple turnovers and hints of lemon and lime Opal Fruits. Fennel seeds.

Finish Drying and slightly less sweet, hints of spice and smoke.

Overall A more approachable, sweet Talisker. 'The Isle of Skye in June'.

Reviews for Talisker Skye
Smokey peaty delight
One of my top 5 single malts. The smokey peatyness makes this a a warm delight. Highly recommended and great value

Goes to show
Goes to show how we all have such different tastes. I absolutely love this one. It was bought for me as a gift and after reading the reviews on here, thought it would likely serve as an emergency dram incase I ever run out of my usual favourites. However, I was more than pleasantly surprised, I’ve now bought a second bottle.

Forbidden Upgrade
May I pass on a tip from Master of Malt Charlie MacLean

If a whisky strikes you as a bit fierce, add a wee drop of sherry to bottle, single /max of double measure, and leave to marry for a few weeks. Softens it significantly, Distillers forbidden to do this-but you can !

Admirable attempt, but...
... not Talisker's best work, compared to 10, Storm or Distiller's Editions.

Light on the traditional Talisker maritime/Atlantic Ocean/sea-flavored smoke compared to those other bottlings, & generally underwhelming by comparison to them, as well.
Good but not great. And I love most other Talisker offerings, but I wouldn't buy this one again.

Beautiful tasting whisky.
Sweet and smokey. Not usually a fan of smokey whisky but this one is beautiful. Smooth and harsh at the same time.

Not good.
I give 4 stars to the 10 year old, this is not a whisky i enjoy, rough, taste disappears quickly, I will never buy again.

Leave on the shelf
A birthday present I'm not enjoying. Not sure who writes the Nose and Palate side of smell and taste. Smells like disinfectant and tastes like Dettol/TCP. So much better out there for the same price and not as harsh, but at least its made by the sea. Thoroughly recommended if you are suffering from Tonsillitis. A beautiful box, that's not needed and ends up in the recycling bin, but i guess is needed to fool the buyer??

Recommendable
Very nice whisky for the amount of money.
Very enjoyable because of high alcohol percentage.
Smokiness and sweetness goes very well together.

This is my birthday bottle..\m/..
A big fan of the Talisker variants, 2 yrs ago, had the Talisker 10yr old, fell in love, and now this Isle of Skye on my buddayy, just crazy, smokey, fiery, citrusy, perfect on-the-rocks stuff & truly worth it single malt.

PS, but i feel the 10yr old was better by a bit.!
