Nose: If approached carefully (it is 57.7% abv!), a wonderfully delicate, sweet, floral nose is revealed. Honeysuckle with supporting apple, grapefruit and a touch of Satsuma. Fragrant vanilla develops into buttery notes and Rich Tea fingers. There is lemon curd, dried coconut and papaya and a sprinkling of white pepper.
Palate: Intense cracked black peppercorn heat surprises after the delicate nose draws you in, a hint of apple crumble too. A little water reveals nutmeg, gentle oak and ground pepper.
Finish: Warming with macadamia nuts before the Rich Tea fingers return towards the end.
Overall: A cracking Strathmill worth taking time over.
