The first ever heavily peated whisky from the English Whisky Company, distilled by the St. George's Distillery in the wonderful county of Norfolk.
Nose: Smoky and rich, with notes of spare ribs, liquorice and soft fruit. A touch of lemon zest, notes of custard and charcoal.
Palate: Good body, with very smoky malt, as well as Latakia pipe tobacco, peat, vanilla and ginger and aniseed. Big and powerful, some chili heat late palate.
Finish: Spicy with good length, it trails off with notes of wood ash and sweetened Lapsang Souchong tea.

I don't usually like heavily peated whisky. My wife bought a half bottle at a local farmers market thinking it was the usual English Whisky. It was a pleasant surprise and will maybe make me re examine my tastes. Fragrant and not too much emphasis on the peat which does not seem to linger too long.A good tipple.

just bought a bottle of this while on hols near Looe. Very nice form such a young whisky. Very smokey, taste of leather with quite a bit of pepper. Reminds me a bit of Talisker. Excellent.
