Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: An oily, coastal nose with hints of heather honey and charred oak. Smouldering.

Palate: Big oak notes to the fore with brackish and crème caramel. Very coastal, just like the nose, this offers a hint of honey, alongside peat smoke and cooked fruit.

Finish: Long, peaty finish. Dark brown sugar and spice.

Springbank 19 Year Old Cask 482 - Single Cask (Master of Malt) Reviews

Very Nice

If you didn't know what "oily" refers to before you try this malt, you will certainly know what it means afterwards. This malt literally glides over the tongue and palate as it is first introduced to your mouth. It is lighter in color than other Springbanks, even lighter than the 12 year old. Don't let that mislead you, this malt is full of that wonderful distinctive flavor that is unmistakably Campbeltown. This very favorably compares to the Springbank 18-year (my preference). Also look at the Hazelburn 12-year (not as oily but very good, especially for the price). This is a must have for any serious collector of Campbeltown malts.
