Springbank 17 Year Old 1996 - Old & Rare Platinum (Hunter Laing)

Springbank 17YO 1996 Bottling Note

Distilled at the Springbank distillery in October 1996, this single malt Scotch whisky matured for 17 years in a sherry butt, waiting for Hunter Laing to come along and bottle it up. Well, in November 2013, it got its wish and was bottled for the Old & Rare Platinum range with an outturn of 270 bottles.

Springbank 17 Year Old 1996 - Old & Rare Platinum (Hunter Laing) Reviews

Unique but not for me

Beautiful honey amareto color.
Nose: Raw high powered alcohol fumes off the initial cask strength pour.
Pallette: Birch wood smell with mild clover honey.
Finish: Butterscotch, ash, nutty, barley

After a drop of water was added, cardboard like smell. Overall it was unique but not for me.
