Longrow 16 Year Old 2001 - Single Cask

Longrow 16yo 2001 Bottling Note

Well-peated 16 year old single malt from the Springbank distillery, released under the Longrow name and bottled for the UK market. This particular expression was drawn from a single cask - but that's not quite the whole story. It was initially aged in a fresh bourbon barrel for 7 years, before being moved over to a fresh Chardonnay wine barrel for a further 9 years. Following that, the whisky was bottled at cask strength, with just 360 bottles produced.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Cigar box, lime peel, white chocolate, earthy smoke and a hint of spent match.

Palate: Roasted coffee bean, oily walnut, grapefruit and granola.

Finish: TCP, leather, apricot, earthy once again.

Longrow 16 Year Old 2001 - Single Cask Reviews

Umami of a malt.

Go on, ah go on, you will, you that “collectable bottle” as what is inside is way more interesting than doubling your money at auction. Would have never guessed at a Chardonnay finish as this feels like more some kind of pudding wine or PX cask. A real whisky geeks malt with a real challenging array of flavours. What an experiment from this Campbeltown distillery. Longrow is fast becoming one of my favourite non Islay peat monsters. The Whisky Flaneur
