Spirit of Hven Dubhe

The Spirit of Hven distillery was the first to produce an island single malt whisky in Sweden, with the island of Ven or 'Hven' being situated in the Öresund Strait between Denmark and Sweden. Established in 2008, it is also only the third legal pot still distillery ever built in Sweden.

Dubhe is named after the second brightest star in the Big Dipper, and is the first of 7 limited edition whiskies they plan to release over the next 7 years. Maturation takes place in American, Spanish and French oak, no chill filtration takes place and each product is bottled by hand, numbered and signed.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Vanilla, Maraschino, red apple and drying grass that's just catching in the sun.

Palate Black pepper, greengages, vanilla, a dusting of cocoa just before a wave of peat and oak.

Finish Warm and slightly drying.

Overall A truly celestial dram.

Delicious but a bit expensive
Tried a dram of this the other day and thought it was delicious. However I would not pay 100 quid for it. In my opinion it's a £60 whisky at best, the current asking price is a bit much but if you can get a chance at a dram it's worth a taste

Mrs Parker
A new star from Sweden.
I never thought a swedish whisky, which only spent 4 years on cask, could tast so rich. I can't wait to taste more products from destillery!

Too young
Not matured fully. Too expensive for a unmatured whisky

good all-rounder
One of the best all-round whiskies I've tried in a while.
Light, touch of dried fruit richness, faint hint of smoke. Great stuff.

1 Star for the smell in the bottle.
Very rough, not my taste at all, sorry but seriously disappointing.
