Straight from outta space side... ahem, sorry – Speyside, comes Solara, a superbly sherried and generously aged single malt. There's definitely an astrological theme here with the planets of the solar system depicted on the label. The name also reminds us of the traditional solera system, often used to age sherry. Clever! This well-aged single malt was treated to a generous finish in oloroso sherry octaves, though these ones didn't actually come from a solera, they were freshies.
Fresh apples and juicy pears with buttery pastry and oily barley in tow. Soft peach and creamy vanilla join in time, with raisin-studded fudge and mellow oak.
Superbly soft with unctuous layers of sticky sweet sherried oak. Creamy caramel and cooked orchard fruits are followed by a touch of drying baking spice.
Tannic, leathery oak brings a drying touch to the finish, with clove and root ginger, cinder toffee, and chocolate-coated cranberries.
Having recently tried a few of the lower end whisky’s I thought I’d give this a try but it lacks anything memorable in my opinion. To the point where I’d probably finish the rest of the bottle with a coke mixer. Sacrilege for any quality whisky.
A Scotch your female & male guests will praise, having a tipple to give a fare review, the sherry really shows my wife loves it was raving about it as I got me the review dram, lovely earthy notes lovely sweet moreish finish, tastes really good 10 mins after my last sip you can't go wrong with a bottle of this you really can't I've about 16/7 malts and this is jumping up near the No1 spot
Sherried whiskies are one of my favourites and this malt is one the best I have drunk at this very reasonable price. Has long warming finish. A really good spirit of Christmas.
