Seagram's VO is a classic Canadian whisky blend, made with spirit of at least 6 years of age. It is said the blend was created after a post-prandial conversation amongst the Seagram family; the letters "VO" might well stand for "very own", as in, their very own blend...
Juicy, spicy rye grains, dried apricot, lemon curd, oak and gristy sweetness.
Spicy and creamy, medium-bodied with honey, caramel and coffee. A touch of orange marmalade and pannacotta.
Medium length, spicy and sweet.
Having been a VO consumer for some 30 years, I find it interesting that there is no longer an age stated on the label. Used to say a blend of whiskeys at least 6 years old. Recent bottles and purchases of VO on the rocks in local pubs have led me to the conclusion that this whiskey just is not what it used to be. There are "off" flavors that I can't pin down. Disappointing.
Great tasting whiskey my grandfather used to sip. It appears my son will carry on the tradition.
Top shelf, one of the best at a reasonable price. Doesn't need a mix, maybe just a little water.
It's sweet, it's smooth...a great, classic Canadian blend that never disappoints. Reminds me of my childhood.
I found an unopened bottle of Seagrams VO with a Pennsylvania LCB tax label dated 1962. I drink it with a little water and a small lemon wedge (and in the summer one ice cube). It is so smooth. A great drink!! Just hope a new bottle will taste the same as the 1962 bottle.
