Scottish Leader Reviews
Try it. You'll probably be surprised.
I am an ex-pat in a large Asian city. I have seen this many times, next to The Great Macauley and even occasionally Hanky Banister!
("Third best whisky in Northern Burma")
Well today I decided to try the "Supreme" version, which is about 25% more expensive than the Original.
It's very nice. Clean, sweet, noticeably Highland. There is definitely a generous helping of single malt in this. I really can't fault it. For the price, it's about as good as it gets these days.

It's a bit strange
I see there is a difference in reviews, me.. I spent hours review-ing this before I bought it. From all corners I thought it would be mediocre.
But it comes down to preference here, there is a note of burnt 'something' in it. It's like something have burnt and been put in there.
That's the main thing here, that 'offputting' note.
Otherwise, it's a 15 year old scotch.. from both bourbon and sherry barrels, and it's peated. So it's not really thin. But that nasty note is holding it back.
Can't go along with this one.

Really-really good for this price range. If not the best.
I was never into mass-market <=20€ whiskies, and Scottish Leader always looked especially suspicious to me. But then I was totally surprised by Ralfy reviewing it (the one with the previous label with the deer on it) and giving it a rather positive blend mark. So I bought one for my country-house as a backup malt, should I suddenly run out of single-malts. And then at some point I opened it, and I must say I cannot stress enough how seriously good blend this is for THIS price range. This honestly beats several single malts I've had in the past, and most certainly beats most blends I've had. Its catch is in the perfect mellow balance and that slightest smoke/ash in the background. Ian MacMillan has done a really great job with this whisky and I cannot recommend it enough for anybody who cannot really afford much whiskies above 30€ or so. And even though I still continue exploring the world of single malts, I still look forward to those weekends at the country-house where I can just take it a little easy with Scottish Leader and rest my tongue. It is especially good to start with and then have a single malt next. Good job, Scottish Leader!

Great Scotch. Thank you Scottish Leader
I usually drink House of Stuart or McGregors. Love this Scottish Leader. Put it above the other two. Smoother. I mix it with tonic water.

Awesome
Wonderful whiskey at this price, it's quite smooth and easy in throat. I really like the Smoky flavor of it.

Needs to be coupled with a steak.
You need to be eating a steak with this. It is too salty to be drinking alone in my opinion. Great value though if you like steak. 3 Star with a steak and 1.5 on its own.

Pleasant, slightly sweet, nice!
Surprisingly pleasant, a touch of honey & no horrible roughness. It must rank with the best at the price
