Rock Town Arkansas Bourbon Whiskey

Sorry about this...

We can't actually ship Rock Town Arkansas Bourbon Whiskey to the United States at the moment (although we're working hard to fix that).

In the meantime, our friends over at The Whisky Shop might be able to help you out.

Thank you for your support and understanding 🙂

Rock Town Bourbon Bottling Note

From the Rock Town Distillery in beautiful Arkansas, comes their Arkansas Bourbon Whiskey (previously known as the Arkansas Young Bourbon, which won Double Gold in the Small Batch Bourbon 10 Years and Younger and a Gold in Best Bourbon - No Age Statement categories at the San Francisco World Spirit Competition 2013). With a new name and a new label, this delicious, small batch bourbon is just as handsome as before, brimming with corn, vanilla, plump raisins and a hint of oak.

Rock Town Arkansas Bourbon Whiskey Reviews

Rock Town Brown label needs time to open up

Paid $42 for a bottle of the brown label Rock Town, 20 months old. Color is dark amber. Initial sip -- not good, too young. Left the synthetic cork top off overnight to aerate the whiskey. Next day, gave it another try -- marked improvement. This whiskey tastes too young initially, but after off-gassing the bottle, the taste opens up well and is pleasant. It gives you a Kentucky (or Arkansas) hug all the way down.

Terrible. Very strong alcohol taste, think Everclear with a few drops of liquid smoke. I can’t believe they bottle this stuff, needs about 20 more years to mellow it out. I really wanted it to be a good USA made Islay equivalent. I’ll stick with Ardbeg.

Worst bourbon ever made

Let me begin by saying that I grew up in Arkansas, close to Montgomery County which had some of the best boot leggers around. I also have a degree in Chemistry. If I were making Rock Town Bourbon, I'd start with some really cheap rubbing alcohol, a few drops of Iodine, some really old after shave lotion, and some Log Cabin waffle syrup. I will readily admit that one would probably die it they drank the above, but it would taste the same. Without a doubt, this bourbon is terrible! It should not have a rating.

a real standout bourbon

Tried this along with a series of single malts and bosmall batch bourbons including this year's whisky of the year on a night out recently . This was the highlight, I just wanted to stick with this all night and it was a quarter the price of the other drams. The following morning I could still remember this and taste it while the others hadn't even left a memory. Lots of vanilla, muscovado and some dates. A distinctive strong taste with a lot of character but not brash. This could change your mind about bourbon if you aren't a fan. Bought a bottle and sipping it as I write, definitely happy with this and a great price.

Wait A While!

After reading about the new venture in Little Rock and reviews of Rock Town bourbon I ordered this with some anticipation. It was however a real disappointment, The whiskey is very, spirity, minty and thin. Not at all as I expected or believed. It really is a very young whiskey which may very well grow in future years to a decent bourbon but dropping the title 'Young' from the original label does not mean a mature whiskey and all the marketing in the world won't help. Maybe one for the future.

A step up from the usual

I was given a sample of this from a friend and although I've tried a few bourbons in the past, this is one I've never heard of so was looking forward to trying it. Upon opening the sample I was greeted with the expected smell of vanilla although there was hints of menthol along with it. I decided to drink it without any ice or water and it has a slightly thick texture with the taste matching the smell with the vanilla and menthol coming through. It has a fairly long finish with the menthol giving way and leaving a sweet vanilla taste in my mouth. Overall I can see why this is more than the usual bourbons you find in the supermarkets, the taste is far superior and I know I'll be buying this instead of the more common ones from now on. 9/10

Rock Town

Nose: Vanilla, molasses, pine, rum-soaked raisins. Palate: stewed plums, oak, corn syrup. Finish: almonds, cloves, toasted sugar, cereal. Overall: an easy, tasty bourbon. Definitely a step up from the bourbons I've tried in the £20-30 bracket.

An Enjoyable Offbeat Bourbon

Nose: Vanilla, some kitchen herbs and spices, a little mint, Wintergreen oil and oak.

Palate: A decent mouthfeel, again more mint and a little wintergreen oil, maize, rich dark stewed fruits and some cola cubes.

Finish: The finish is long with notes of vanilla, mild sweet oak, some herbs and a little spice.
