A straight rye whiskey made with a mashbill of 95% rye for intensity and spiciness. Aged for over 2 years and bottled at 46%, this is bold stuff! Absolutely perfect on its own or in a cocktail.
Nose: Very big and spicy (what did we expect?!), toasted oak, vegetal notes, allspice and anise.
Palate: More dark spices, star anise, treacle and a hint of espresso.
Finish: Did we mention it was spicy?
Overall: Big, spicy and fairly fresh, eminently drinkable.

I have had a lot of rye whiskies, and I have to say that none that I regretted spending money as much as this one. Not much character, a little harsh. Really way too young. If it was 15 bucks, I would not complain but at this price point? Rittenhouse is a much better buy than this one. High West Double Rye blows the socks out of this one as well.

Very distinctive intro of freshly baked rye bread, juniper , liquorice, dark herbal honey, toasted mint & aromatic spices. A dark & thick mouthfulll of toasty rye, anise, espresso coffee, roasted sweet squash in herbal honey, menthol & peppery spice.A dry & peppery long finish with vanilla toast & more aromatic coffee, anise & menthol.Something dark & brooding here too! This is a very tasty rye whisky , nice spice and complex flavors. I like to drink on rocks with a single ice cube. It's remarkably smooth when drunk this way.

A very good bottle of sauce, to be sure, but not worth the price. Comes from the same Lawrenceville, Indiana distillery as Bulleit Rye, which is a much more interesting drink at 2/3rds the price.
