This is the first Indian single malt whisky from the Radico Khaitan distillery (previously known as the Rampur distillery, hence the name), which is in Uttar Pradesh to the north of India. The distillery itself dates back to the 1940s, but this is their first single malt to make it to our shores!
Thyme honey, dried apricot, cinnamon and vanilla custard.
Tropical fruits, more rich vanilla, apple and a touch of pepper.
Long and quite drying.
Not impressed, this is a very simple whisky but sold at a premium price. It should be placed as the entry level whisky. Plain and lacks the complexity of a single malt. Not recommended.
Bought this as an experiment and have been really impressed. Have served at parties and have had no complaints At least a 4 out of 5 stars!!
Nothing great, I expected a lot more spices and flavors from an Indian whisky. To be honest, tasted a bit synthetic and plasticky.
Absolutely interesting whisky. It's quite heavy on the fruits with a fair amount of sweetness. The finish is long and ends fairly dry. It's quite pleasant and I absolutely love and recommend this. I've tried Paul John, but this blows Paul John out of the water. Definitely worth the extra price.
Picked this up at Dubai duty-free. I tend to drink Scotch whisky exclusively, but I was very curious about Indian whisky. Nose: Caribbean rum right off, then dried apricots and malt. Palate: Pepper and other spicy stuff, caramel and cereal. The finish is long, and caramel and especially the spice linger. Interesting indeed.
