Borders Single Grain - First Release

Sorry about this...

We can't actually ship Borders Single Grain - First Release to the United States at the moment (although we're working hard to fix that).

In the meantime, our friends over at The Whisky Shop might be able to help you out.

Thank you for your support and understanding 🙂

Borders Single Grain #1 Bottling Note

R&B stands for Raasay and Borders, with the company building distilleries on the Isle of Raasay and (hopefully, at the time of writing) Peebles. In the meantime, they don't plan to leave us thirsty and twiddling our thumbs, heavens no. With plenty of experience from the award-winning Tweedale Blend, they've produced expressions for us to enjoy whilst we wait. Representing the 'Borders' half of the venture, is this single grain (distilled in the Highlands), which they've finished in Oloroso Sherry casks. The R&B chaps suggest enjoying it with dark chocolate pralines, which is something we're certainly planning to try!

Interestingly, the grain whisky is made up of 50% malted barley as well as 50% wheat.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Fruit and nut mix, nougat, coconut and sweet malt.

Palate: Nutty Oloroso, meringue, pecan, oak tannins, lavender and vanilla spice.

Finish: Rich oak, dates, Fruit and Nut Wheetabix (or Fruitibix).

Overall: Highly enjoyable, now where are those pralines? This should keep us busy for a while while they, you know, build a distillery.
