Port Ellen 30 Year Old 1982 - Old and Rare (Douglas Laing)

Port Ellen 30 1988 Bottling Note

A marvellous and decidedly rare Port Ellen distilled in April 1982 and aged for a massive 30 years in a single refill hogshead before bottling in April 2012 for Douglas Laing's premium Old and Rare Platinum Selection. A release of just 154 bottles at natural cask strength - absolutely astonishing stuff.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: A very waxy, zest-driven nose with lemon meringue pie, burning tires, paraffin, hints of linseed oil and cut hay.

Palate: Gingerbread, a little prickly pear, custard apple and creosote, coal tar soap, marzipan and flint.

Finish: Dusty and rich, smoke and intense peaty spices.

Overall: Much like some of the recent official Port Ellens of this age - really fabulous stuff.
