Port Charlotte 10YO Bottling Note

The 10 year old Port Charlotte is the first of the PC bottlings to join Bruichladdich's core range. It is a rich, smouldering dram distilled from malt peated to 40ppm.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Creamy sweet vanilla notes meld with rich, dark, powdering peat and roasted hazelnut. Hints of sherried peels and caramel.

Palate: Dark caramel and peat smoke. A wave of dried fruit and candied peels. Tropical fruit, bonfire toffee and walnut.

Finish: Dark chocolate digestives and smoked prune juice. Creamy and spiced.

blew the rims off my nostrils

Gorgeous, perfect. Such a beautiful peat smoke with subtle hints of cream vanilla and sweetness. I'll be picking this one up again as soon as i see it.

PC10 or Port Charlotte 10?

Any reason this, assuming it is Port Charlotte 10 as in the picture, is £25 more expensive than most other retailers?

A Lovely dram

Hugely impressed by this peaty offering from Bruichladdie, though not sure on the pricing structure...??

Grows and grows on you

Fantastic release from the Bruichladdich team. All in preparation for the reopening of the Port Charlotte Distillery in a few years time. I'm not quite sure where this price came from... it's £40 in the distillery. People often compare Bruichladdich to other Islay cults like Laphroaig which isn't fair, as they are such different whiskies. However, this is more comparable. I prefer it to the 10yo, but Triplewood beats it I reckon.

Well worthy of adding to anyone's collection though. At £35/£40 it's a bargain, at this price, not so much!
