Penderyn Dylan Thomas Bottling Note

Part of Penderyn's Icons of Wales series, this bottling of their single malt whisky celebrates the famous writer and poet, Dylan Thomas. The Welsh whisky itself is matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-dry oloroso Sherry casks, resulting in a rather sweet expression, rich in berry, vanilla fudge and dried fruit notes.

Penderyn Dylan Thomas (Icons of Wales) Reviews

OK, but there is better out there in Cymru

Tried a few of the Penderyns now and this is not my favourite. Slightly earthy nose, with a light, citrusy mouth. There is a bit of a twang in the finish. Overall a little lacking but not unpleasant

Lovely...especially with the pic of my hero on the bottle

To begin at the beginning, it was a sping, moonless night in the small town when I opened my bottle and poured it into a fetching nosing glass. Ahh, the aroma set me thinking of Captain Cat and Nogood Boyo and that devlish Rosie Probert. A fine tipple indeed it is.

Not value for money

Quite sweet but with an unpleasant aftertaste

For this price, buy something else.

We excepted something individual, but let us down...
Design: regular glass, but nice boxing, with the little book.
Nose/Aroma: very slight fruits... But smells like alcohol.
Feel: thin whisky...
Taste: sugar bourbon a bit.. Very slight hint of the fruits...
Finish: medium long, wouldn't be bad, a bit of fruity sweetness, but an acid at the end not pleasant.
Summa: we think cherry cask wasn't necessary to use.
