Old Fitzgerald 1849 Bottling Note

A very good bourbon, the extra wheat content in this brings a lovely smoothness, not unlike Maker's Mark in this respect. Old Fitzgerald 1849 is very popular with Dave Broom and Jim Murray!

Old Fitzgerald 1849 Reviews

Earl Fitz

As a seasoned Malt & Irish Wisky man, I've rarely been tempted by American Mash Whisky - however, keeping an open mind a friend bought me my "named" whisky. It's good - very good !!
Smooth (as ever with Boubon whisky) but it's also complex flavours - a fine liqueur (and it pains me much to tell honestly the Yanks have got it right in this great, quality drink!!

Knocked off Makers as my favorite

My father always liked old Fitzgerald and I thought he was just being cheap. I drank big name bourbons. Dad found this 1849 in his late father's effects. We tried it. It blew me away. Smooth. Oak and caramel finish. I sip it neat. I prefer it to my $70 - $200 bottles of big name bourbons. I keep big names in cabinet for friends who are impressed by name. I drink only for taste. This works for me and it's $16/ bottle. I'm a reformed bourbon snob. Dad was right.

Smooth for a Bourbon

I'm a big fan of whisky and have delved into the Bourbon market on occassion. This is by far my favourite Bourbon, much smoother and more rounded than all others i've tried. Great for sipping neat. Strong though at 45% but doesn't catch like strong spirits normally do.
If you enjoy a nice malt whisky you'll like this too.

Sampled with a sample

I was looking for a nice tasting Bourbon and this one is not something I liked. Quite malty, light taste, not smoky enough, did not like this one. I am not a connoisseur, Jack Daniels tastes good enough for me most of the time... Try Knob Creek though, it is lovely.
