This was distilled at the North of Scotland distillery in 1973 before a 38 year maturation in a single cask (number 14570). It was bottled for Berry Brothers and Rudd in 2012 and it comes with neither chill-filtration nor caramel-colouring.
Nose: Toasted oak and sweet bourbon on the nose. A little espresso bean, peach nectar, dried apricots and allspice.
Palate: Sweet plum jam, caramel and vanilla custard. Notes of dried herbs, cinnamon and charred oak. Very creamy.
Finish: Long finish with allspice, nutmeg and a little vanilla.
Overall: Beautifully creamy with oodles of influence from a bourbon cask.
