Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: A creamy, sweet nose offering up barrel char and vanilla. Aromatic spices, a touch of coffee, treacle and sweet, honeyed cigar leaf notes. After a time in the glass it offers up dried grass and Demerara sugar too, and a tinge of potpourri.

Palate: Great sweetness - creamy porridge oats with plenty of dark brown sugar and cinnamon, as well as a tinge of rye-like spice. It develops with dates, manuka honey on granary toast, and perhaps sweetcorn with salty butter.

Finish: Beautiful length, fading on sweet spices, vanilla, and something reminiscent of a Caffè Nero Amaretto Latte.

Overall: A beautiful whisky with oodles of sweet spices and buttery rum notes.

North British 20 Year Old 1991 Cask 3228 - Single Cask (Master of Malt) Reviews

I must be a malt-man at heart

I bought a sample bottle out of interest, never having tried an unblended grain whisky, but to my mind it smells and tastes overwhelmingly medicinal. Apart from the finish, which is not unpleasant, I wouldn't recognise it from the tasting notes.

Excellent

This is about as close a drink iv'e had to an American whiskey that isn't an American whiskey.
Very very good nexus between Scotch and bourbon tastes IMO.

Highly recommended.
