Mortlach Special Strength Bottling Note

Mortlach Special Strength comes from the 2014 relaunch of Mortlach's range, though was originally released for the Travel Retail market. This has been bottled at 49% ABV, which brings out plenty of intense fruit, spice and herbaceous elements to the fore.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Big vanilla pod, chewy raisin and a good touch of meatiness.

Palate: Valencia orange, Crunchie bars (honeycomb and chocolate), tobacco and continued meaty notes.

Finish: A little wisp of smoke and apricot sweetness.

Mortlach Special Strength Reviews

Sensational

A true whiskey as we like them. Moreover, despite its 49%, it retains all its flavors

LUVIT!

Nose: Pina colada but with mango instead of pineapple, and coconut. Taste was a little tobacco/cigarette ash and a hint cold strong assam (tannin)... coffee?... then syrupy/oily caramel with a bit of pepper at the finish.
I think this could become one of my favourites.
A few drops of water and it opened up nicely... however I really enjoy the strength (49%)
