Method Madness Single Pot Bottling Note

Perhaps the most intriguing release from the first batch of Midleton's Method and Madness whiskeys, this is a single pot still expression initially matured in Sherry and bourbon barrels, before enjoying a finishing period in French chestnut! Exciting stuff.

Method and Madness Single Pot Still Reviews

Extra cost for extra flavour

A favorite of mine, trumps some of the scotch I have

Remarkable Irish Whiskey

Memorable on the nose. Smooth, sweet and full-bodied. Lovely sherry lingering aftertaste. Phenomenal Irish Whiskey.

Very nice, would be better a bit less pricey, but it really stood out

Delicious , sweet. Sorry I am not very good at talking bananas and cinnamons, but I just liked it, felt different and is worth the expensive price

Worth every penny

This is the most expensive whisky I have ever bought, so impressed I bought another two bottles.

Sublime

Complex, delicious and sophisticated notes that belie all the quirkiness. More please.

An absolute delight

Rich amber colour, oily in the glass. On the nose an intense buttery note, shortbread like, mixes with banana and tropical fruit and even a little herby. Thick in the mouth, coats your palette - the sweetness builds with a smack of spice, little ginger and brown sugar. The vanilla joins, almost giving your mouth a creme brulee experience. Smooth and intense on the finish, warming but not bitter - the banana and toffee lingers. A genuinely exciting whiskey, and probably the best Irish whiskey I have tried.

Bright flavored with an exceptional smoothness

I had the good fortune to be in Donnybrook in May 2019, the fine bartender at Arthur Mayne’s (from Nepal! - A fantastic conversation), offered me this as a thing a Yankee from NY couldn’t find at home. The bright flavors were balanced on a smoothness that allowed my less-than-expert palate to thoroughly enjoy. If you’re looking for a single potstill that “stays home”, but offers a few interesting tweaks, this is it!

Gorgeous

Truly one of the best SPS Irish out there. Vibrant and beautiful nose and medium-rich, delicate spicy and smoooooothe in the mouth. Brilliant whiskies.

Great taste - awful packaging.

If you can get over the awful design of the packaging you will love this whisky, it is complex and unique, very different but still whisky, just such a shame about the packaging, I buy with my eyes so I just couldn’t get over the poor label design to purchase a bottle, I’ll still order it when out though ... I’m not that pedantic 😊
