MacNair's Lum Reek 21 Year Old (Old Bottling)

MacNair's 21yo (Old) Bottling Note

A 21 year old blended malt from the MacNair's Lum Reek range, produced by the GlenAllachie Distillers Company. Built around a blend created by Billy Walker of peated Islay and Speyside whiskies, alongside with GlenAllachie single malt, this expression packs a satisfying peaty punch. It features whisky drawn from a combination of Oloroso, virgin oak and red wine casks. The name come from the Victorian distiller Harvey McNair, and the Scottish toast "Long may your lum reek!".

Loved it!

You can really see why it won Worlds Best Blended Whisky. Subtle smoke, gentle sweetness and a finish that just goes on and on. Thoroughly enjoyed!

Outstanding

This really needs a teaspoon or two of water to really come alive, as neat it is pretty hot for a 21 year old. But once you tame that heat, holy moly there is so much going. The peat and wine + sherry work so well. Barely through a quarter of the bottle and I've ordered a couple more (£90 elsewhere...). Get some!
