A peaty 8 year old Single Malt from a secret Islay, bottled by Ian Macleod as an introduction into malt whisky.
The nose is quite smoky, there are some lovely maritime notes, the peat is quite evident though a little spirity. The palate is quite full and well-balanced. There are notes of sultanas, mixed peels, peat smoke and kelp. The oak develops with marked aridity, continuing into the finish with more smoke.

Excellent whiskey for 8 years aged

This IS a genuine Islay whisky.Although i think it could use 2-4 more years to reach excellence, this is a very good young Islay. Not in the top section of the islay malts but a low priced malt to be enjoyed as a more "core" islay malt.

Ok whisky for the less entusiastic whisky drinkers in Norway compared to the price

Gave it a try because of the good price in Norway. Average for the money but not comparable to genuine Islay whisky.
