A reasonably well-peated 8 year old single malt from an unnamed Island distillery. This was bottled by Ian Macleod as an introduction into the world of malt whisky.
The nose is quite well-oaked with dry smoke notes, a touch of kelp and sherried peels, some sultanas and a cut herb note with a rooty note. The palate is of medium-body and quite sweet. There is a barley note with a good smoked note with a maritime quality. The finish is of good length with a little smoke and spice.

It's not "up there with the most famous", but it's got a heavy peated taste, and reminds me of my Ardbeg 10YO. Cheap and good taste value!
