Mackmyra Moment - Tolv Bottling Note

In 2004, the Mackmyra distillery started using the disused Boda°s mine as their main warehouse (which makes a nice change from simply a big building full of barrels). The Tolv expression from Mackmyra's Moment series is made with some of the first casks which were moved into the Boda°s mine, 50 metres below ground!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Toasted oak and leather, with layers of creamy vanilla and chocolate biscuits.

Palate: Oodles of vanilla and caramelised nuts. A hint of leafy coriander develops.

Finish: Quite peppery, but with enough brown sugar sweetness to balance it out.

Mackmyra Moment - Tolv Reviews

Scandanavian honor

The community here is hyper-focused on the age statemtnt (or lack thereof), Tolv = Twelve på svenka. Anyway, taxes are very high in Scandanavia, but the whisky quality is independent of all of the above. It's good and overprices, or bad and overpriced, is what I am saying. Is the whisky good? Helveta Ja! Jättebra!

I tried it at Destillat Sthlm(Stockholm Sweden) 18/2 17.
Indeed it felt younger and I was not impressed, 10£ for 2cl.
Not worth the money in my perspective. Sorry Mackmyra.
Mackmyra Blomstertid is my best Mackmyra for the moment.

Where, how, etc. did you taste?

The review below popped up in less than a few hours of its release, and it would help customers to know if you own a whole bottle or only had a dram at one particular point in space and time? Clarification please.

Half way there...

Might not be to smart to age whisky in a mine there is no temperature changes. But still Sweden's first twelve year old whisky... kinda cool =P

It's a descent whiskey if it were half the price.

Feels much.... much younger than 12 years

Not sure if its the warehouse or the casks. Something has held up the maturation of this whisky.

A whisky to collect? Maybe
A whisky to drink? Not at that ridiculous price
