This whisky is from the eminent Speyside distillery of Macallan. Macallan are well-regarded for producing exceptional and award-winning whisky - so it was hardly a surprise that ‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ snapped up some of this esteemed whisky and bottled it for your delectation.
‘That Boutique-y Whisky Company’ bottles single malts, single grains, bourbons, blended malts and blends from a variety of renowned distilleries. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic-novel-style labels.
This label features Macallan’s Curiously Small Stills*, as observed by a handsome Giant. This is batch 1 - a release of 312 bottles.
*They’re not small. They’re massive. Just look at them. Massive. Durr.
Nose: Christmas cake leading to powerful, almost calvados-like apple, then there is a wealth of dried grape-based fruits, developing into notes of apple tart sprinkled with cinnamon. Finally baked apple and a rich sherry aroma settle in.
Palate: A really soft body that blossoms in the mouth - with notes of stewing sultanas and prunes with the sweet but slightly acidic touch of brambly apple.
Finish: A rush of baked apple scattered with demerara sugar and a big chunk of toffee followed by lingering vanilla essence.
Overall: Really well developed notes of dried fruit and apple on the nose leading to a beautifully soft mouth-feel, followed by an assertive finish. This Macallan demonstrates great balance; each flavour is bold, but at no point compromises the structure of whisky.

Not very good. Seemed too have lost much of it's identity after being watered down to only 41%abv. Not complex on the nose or palate - and not overly tastey in general. I gave it a 73.

Think Macallan 25, a little more sherry influence, at 1/6 the price. Yup.

Being a big Sherry head, this dram didn't disappoint in any way shape or form. Good job I got a couple of bottles, because this is just as good if not better than alot of the macallan sherries!
