Founded in 1957, the now closed Lochside distillery produced both grain and malt whisky under the ownership of Joseph Hobbs, much like Ben Nevis. This bottling from Adelphi was matured in a single re-fill sherry butt filled with both malt and grain together from this single distillery. Released by independent bottler Adelphi.
Nose: Dark sherry and antique furniture, apricot and sour cream slice, sesame oil and thick caramel.
Palate: Tremendous mouthfeel with dates and almonds, brooding but not overstated oak and rich savoury notes.
Finish: Long and rich, hints of cooked vanilla.
Overall: Wonderfully aged blend, spending decades together in the cask to emerge with plenty of life and character.

Got the last one for Norway. 80 % grain and 20 % single malt are superb.
