Laphroaig 18 Year Old 2002 (cask 14409) - Old Particular (Douglas Laing)

Laphroaig 18yo '02 #14409 Bottling Note

A superb indie Laphroaig from Douglas Laing, distilled back in April 2002 and left in a single refill butt for just shy of two decades. After it reached 18 years of age, it was bottled up in October 2020, with a release of 314 bottles at 48.4% ABV for the Old Particular series. Lots of berry fruit to balance the medicinal Islay smoke in this one!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Ashy smoke, tarred rope, and cigar box, with bubbling caramel.

Palate: A good dollop of homemade berry jam, with medicinal peat and smoky barley.

Finish: Freshly cut grass lingers alongside a beach bonfire, and caramelised nuts.
