Laphroaig 18

The Laphroaig 18-year-old single malt replaced the 15-year-old during the 2000s and comes at a higher strength. This old bottling will fit right into a special collection, or make a memorable headliner for a special tasting.

This bottle was part of a private collection - if you'd like more detailed photos just get in touch!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Tasted by us with Laphroaig's Distillery Manager, John Campbell:

Nose:Very big. This is a beast of a whisky, with a breakfast character (granary toast, salty butter, a touch of orange juice and coffee). After a while of nosing it you’ll start to get banana loaf, developing alongside the applewood smoke, perhaps even cocoa too.

Palate:Very rounded and thick. Golden Syrup? Salt spray, fiery wood spices, dark and brooding peat, star anise, dark chocolate and stewed prunes.

Finish:Very long, with liquorice, Seville orange marmalade, salty butter and kippers.

I've been really good, can I have
Laphroaig 18?
Hold on, what's this?

Reviews for Laphroaig 18 Year Old - 2000s
The best 18 yo Islay single malt scotch
Without getting into details...cannot get better than this! The most impressive aged whisky from Islay that I have had!

Your task: find it, buy it, try it...good luck though!
One of the best single malts I've ever had the pleasure to know...sure wish I would have stockpiled this stuff when it was available! If you can still find it (good luck), do yourself a favor and GET IT - this is one of those rare gems that must be tried to understand, words do her no justice...

Open it!!
To the reviewer below, do yourself a favour and enjoy that bottle. This is one of the best whiskies in my bar. Fortunately I heard in time it was to be discontinued, so I stocked up on two dozen. But not planning on selling any of them. Just want to be sure I can open one each year for the next 24 years.

Getting hard to find
Wish I could review, but I bought one of the last bottles I've seen of this and don't plan on opening it. Hopefully it will make me some money down the road! Wish I found a 2nd one though... would love to try it.

Laffe 18

Lucky me
A dram with a peppery punch in the end, but before that it's mellow baked in a relatively light smoke with a lovely maturity and sweetness.

Haha... Lucky me. I found this in a bar at Stockholm Arlanda Airport yesterday. My flight was delayed with ten minutes, and I used those minutes very well.

No doubt... This is a really good whisky.

Discontinued..? Well... Things change. Yes, they change...

Unbeatable at the price
You either like the taste or you don't. If you like the taste, just enjoy it. One lifetime is all any of us have.
