A refill hogshead-matured Laphroaig, distilled in October of 1996, this was aged for 15 years before bottling in December 2011. A release of 321 bottles from Douglas Laing's Old Malt Cask range.
Nose: Smoky and rich, motor oil and salted, smoked almonds, plume and pepper.
Palate: Punchy and aniseed-rich, notes of lemon zest, black pepper and sticking plasters.
Finish: Long, peaty finish with lemon and caramel.
