A rare single cask Laphroaig, distilled in February of 1986, and aged for 25 years in a refill hogshead before bottling for Douglas Laing's Old and Rare Platinum Selection in December 2011, an outturn of just 77 bottles.
Nose: Vinous and sherried. Pepper, malt and a hint of oyster sauce, cedar and tobacco.
Palate: Gently smoky, and very citrusy, with a fair old amount of fresh lemon juice, sticking plasters and lapsang souchong.
Finish: Calves leather and tar. Hints of creosote and cocoa.
