This Laphroaig was distilled on the 4th April 1995 and it was aged for 16 years in bourbon barrel 43 before it was bottled by Signatory on the 25th October 2011. A release of 221 decanter bottles.
Nose: Salty and tangy. The metallic, saline tinge of fresh rock oysters from the coast of Islay. Sticking plasters, toffee apples and bonfire toffee. Plumes of smoke and malt.
Palate: Big, punchy attack with lots of spice, vanilla, iodine and smoke. An oaky, fruity palate with a lot of tangy, peppery smoke.
Finish: A good, long, spicy finish with huge, heavy peat. Warm slabs of peat tingle the tongue for minutes.
