Lagavulin 10 Year Old 2005 - Single Cask (Master of Malt)

Lagavulin 10 Year Old Bottling Note

Single Cask Series Lagavulin! That's right, we bottled this single malt Scotch whisky from the south coast of Islay on 21st January 2016 after it spent 10 years (a week shy of 11 years, in fact) in a single refill bourbon hogshead, having been distilled on 28th January 2005. As with all the whiskies in this series, it's bottled at natural cask strength without chill-filtration.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Peaty crushed nuts with hints of Ferrero Rocher and choc Cream Eggs. Given time in the glass and a drop of water there are notes of citrus, pencil shavings and apple pencil sweets.

Palate: Smoky butterscotch popcorn supported by a little earthy, truffle-like depth before tangy fruit starts to develop.

Finish: Barbecued papaya and chocolate shavings.

Overall: Great power and classic Lagavulin character.

Lagavulin 10 Year Old 2005 - Single Cask (Master of Malt) Reviews

Tempermental

smells of mushrooms
tastes of cherries and wheat crackers
water adds a little honey and a lot of metal

A few drops of water ruined my first glass. It was pretty good before I tried the water, but not as good as the 16.

Yeah ok

No sample and way overpriced (especially for its age).

Way to go MoM chaps!

Money is King.

Very Expensive

Is that really the price? Over twice as much for an indy bottling and younger than Lag's own cask strength?
