The Matsui Sakura Cask Bottling Note
A single malt from the Kurayoshi Distillery, which resides in the foothills of Mt. Daisen. Released as part of the Matsui range, this particular expression has been matured in cherry wood casks - sounds rather intriguing indeed, doesn't it?

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt
Nose: Almond, faint hints of fresh orange and melon, sawdust spiciness.
Palate: Baking spices and citrus once again. A light whiff of spring blossom later on.
Finish: White pepper heat and vanilla sponge cake.

Matsui Sakura Cask Reviews
Different and intriguing
This whisky is unlike many others.
It's nose, palate and finish are quite unusual and I can only out it down to the sakura cask finish.
It's smooth and mellow and definitely worth a look of you like Japanese whisky

Very odd aftertaste
Not light whisky at all. What's killing its aftertaste. I thought I boght some exspencive fake rubbish but reading review below I fully agree not worth even 1/2 the price. Lesson learned.

Would most definitely NOT buy again
Very light whisky, screw cap. Keeps badly. Not worth the money. I regret buying this. Much better bottles around for less than 1/2 the price albeit not from Japan. Had quite a few Japanese single malts over the years, this is by far the worst. If I’d paid 1/2 the price I would have written it off as an expensive mistake. At this price, I wept. I’m now contemplating putting in coffee over Christmas. Technically, I would say light, floral, slightly odd aftertaste. No lingering flavours or aroma to speak of. Sorry, I don’t really like posting negative reviews, but I struggled with this and I really like drinking whisky. Not to my taste.

Elequent, Worth a try
Elequent det whiskey with an interesting nose. Definitely not a cask you've smelt or taster before. Light entry with a stronger finish. Definitely worth trying. Probably one of the most interesting Japanese whiskeys I have had
