Kinahan’s Kasc Project Bottling Note

Kinahan's has introduced The Kasc Project, which aims to delve into the unknown regarding whiskey making, using hybrid casks (kascs?). Each cask has been constructed from five different types of wood, including Portuguese, American, French and Hungarian oak, as well as chestnut. The result is a complex blend marrying all different types of cask. Innovative stuff from Ireland.

Teeling Small Batch

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Juicy autumnal fruit, namely plum, alongside pear and apple crumble. Sweeter aromas of rich caramel and pineapple peek through, supported by a spicy undertone.

Palate: Somewhat syrups, with prominent charred oak, barbecued mango and more caramelised tropical fruit with a scattering of vanilla pod. Creamy fruit and nut chocolate drizzled with runny caramel.

Finish: Aromatic, Christmassy notes of nutmeg and clove, orange oil and brown sugar, with caramelised pineapple.

Kinahan’s The Kasc Project Reviews

Try it, you won't be disappointed

This honestly reminds me of a really nice bourbon but a lot smoother than most I have tried.
A great dram for the price and a future buy for me.

The first whiff actually reminds me of cognac. This is an incredible whiskey for this price. it had a beautiful dark amber colour, complex and yet pretty near taste (slight sharpness). No regrets at all buying this bottle.

Well worth it

Wow super complex, a lovely dram and also makes a great Old Fashioned. Great price for the quality.

Do not buy - save it all for me!!

Cannot say more. Cannot do the flowery stuff, just enjoyed Will I buy again - it’s already on my list.

Great both straight and in classic cocktails.

Tried this in a bar in London last week during 'old fashioned week' and had to get a bottle. Too many whiskies get drowned out but Kasc holds up really well in cocktails. I had 2 - a Kasc old fashioned and a Kasc 'Hybrid' Sour. Firmly added to my basic but quality home bartender set.

Great dram putting it top of the cheaper bottle list

Bought on the basis of reviews and was glad I did. Great drop, I find it similar to Jamesons Crested which I also love. Smooth in the mouth, on the sweet side, slow burn and even smoother finish.

Coldest May holiday warmed by Kasc

The hybrid 5 woods saved the (rule of) 6 of us huddled round a bbq.
Delicious whiskey, lovely mix of flavours and saved the cold day! Ordered another for next bank holiday.

Loyal scotch drinker been won over

This is so impressively different to the standard Irish whiskey (no disrespect) I've tried in the past. Well worth it and intrigued to see if they will follow up with more like it.

Like no Irish whiskey I've tried - in a really good way

Big fan of the growing success of the Irish category and it's whiskies like Kasc that are pushing the boundaries. A lovely mix of complex flavours and my new favourite.
