Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2019 Release

Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2019 Bottling Note

It's the 2019 edition of Kilchoman's annual Loch Gorm single malt, which sees the Islay distillery's whisky matured in oloroso sherry casks. This year, Kilchomah has drawn spirit from 20 oloroso sherry butts, resulting in big helpings of dark chocolate and fruit, blending well with the peat smoke at its core.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Smoke arrives first, before a big whack of sherried peels and cinnamon cookies.

Palate: Dried fruit, salted butter, grilled citrus fruits, jammy damson and dark chocolate.

Finish: Lingering dark chocolate bitterness and spicy smoke.

Kilchoman Loch Gorm 2019 Release Reviews

Plenty good happening here

Enjoyable dram. Love blend of sherry and Kilchoman brand of smoke...and everything in between.

Great combination of sweet and smoke

Lots going on but the sweetness from the sherry casks balances very nicely with the smoke. Sometimes when I've had Islays that are aged exclusively in sherry casks I find them sickly sweet, but this one is done right

A true Modern Islay from one of the Newer players on the Isle.

Whisky Club in Kelowna BC Canada Blind tasted 4 Malts 4th Lagavulin 16 3rd Macallan 15 y 2nd Arran 18 y 1st Kilchoman Loch Gorm was considered the top of all 4 and many thought was a Lagavulin however the Lagavulin tasted and nosed flat and empty. The Kilchoman was vibrant and clean in taste typical of original Islay Malts.

Great stuff

This has been one of the best whiskies I have tasted but admittedly I rarely spend over £50 on my malt, so this was a treat.
It's great on the nose and tastes just as good. Smouldering ashes to begin smoothly followed by sweet cream tea. Very easy drinking! Sometimes you really do get what you pay for.

Great stuff

I'm a fan. I've tried the 2016 and 2018 previously and the 2019 edition is the best of these if memory serves. A lovely whisky from one of the relatively few independent distilleries. Worthy of our support!

A sweet peaty whisky. Love it.

Love it. I'm a big fan of Kilchoman whisky's but Loch Gorm is different to the one's 'Ive had before. There is a sweetness to it due to the sherry casks but still the peat there. Delighted with it.
