Kilchoman 6yo 2010

This is the second edition of Kilchoman's Original Cask Strength expression. The first one was drawn from ex-bourbon barrels, while this second edition was aged for over 6 years in quarter casks and then bottled at natural cask strength!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose Caramel coated apples, smoky barley, peppercorns.

Palate Apricot, more apples, layers of robust peat smoke.

Finish Loads of vanilla with a little bit of tropical fruit tucked away. An elegant waft of peat appears later on.

Reviews for Kilchoman 6 Year Old 2010 Original Cask Strength
Perfection
One of the best Kilchoman has produced. I am on to my 3rd bottle of it and sadly there will not be any more of this particularly wonderful dram left anywhere. The original cask strength in my opinion has just beaten my favorite whisky, Laphroaig's Cairdeas Cask strength Quarter Cask. It will require a wee drop of water to allow the beautiful vanilla and tropical fruit to flourish and finish with the perfect amount of peat.

Yummy
Smoky peppercorns and sweet apples and caramelised pears. Then vanilla and more subtle spice. Very sophisticated smoke.

What we expect from Kilchoman
I have never had a bad Kilchoman, and this one is another great pleasure. Full six year maturation in QC has made this an amazing dram. Full on peppery and spicy, but with alluring vanilla and sweet peat smoke. I loved the first Original Cask Strength, but this second one is another cut above. Grab it while you can!
