A limited edition whisky from Johnnie Walker, inspired by the absurdly popular television programme, Game of Thrones (in turn based off of George R.R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire book series). Created by whisky specialist George Harper and his team, this whisky features malts from Clynelish (aptly one of the most northern Scotch whisky distilleries) and Cardhu, among others. The bottle has a temperature-sensitive graphic that will spell out the words “Winter is here” when it's at the right temperature for serving.
Soft hints of orange Fruit Pastilles and dried apricot. Toffee, vanilla pod and ginger snaps.
More vanilla again, this time paired with cinnamon and almond. Hints of fresh cherry and cut oak heat.
Lingering peppery malt and festive spices.
$34.48 - $92.62
Wasn't sure what this would be like. Initially tasted and would have given a 3 out of 5 but read it has to be properly experienced straight from a freezer. So resided beside my frozen pees and carrots for a week before I decided to try this new experience. It has to go down for me as one of my to 5 ever. I could go on how the chilling allows a delay to the taste that catches your tastebuds, it also brings out so many subtle flavours not noticed when warm. Has also introduced my Son to whiskey, away from his usual flavoured ciders, a plesent surprise.. Sad it has been discontinued, will just have to keep looking..
Awful. From the nose to the finish, this overbearing heap of paint stripper is an astringent attack on all of the senses. Cracked the bottle from the depths of the freezer as recommended, but what was unearthed was something entirely different from the trusted JW family. The bottle design is the best thing about the edition, but the stuff inside is that which rhymes with 'White'.
Good
My favourite out of all the Johnnie walkers.
A disgrace to JW. Does not even taste like whisky. Too strong vanilla, no depth. Drank frozen as recommended, neat, with soda and lemon. A waste of money.
