Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

The nose is quite rich and full. There are notes of mocchaccino and espresso coffee, wood smoke and a fireplace, a touch of bitter chocolate and oak. The palate is of medium-body with notes of crisp cereals, coffee beans and chocolate, a date note with a touch of walnut. The finish is quite long and spicy with honeyed sweetness and oak.

Johnnie Walker Green Label 15 Year Old Reviews

A bit immature.

Johnnie Walker Green label is very hard to find in my area of Canada.
It's often touted as the malt snob's preferred member of the JW range.

In the glass, you have a slightly lighter than average whisky, however it is still obvious that caramel colouring and chill filtering is used. The whisky is not as oily and does not have "legs in the glass"

On the nose you are greeted with Talisker's peat , followed up by citrus fruits, coffee, vanilla and unfortunately strong oak.

I was sentimental about this whisky so maybe I am judging this bottle purchased in 2022 a bit harshly.

Upon the first sip, you are greeted with very nice light peat, there is a sharp sweetness and a floral medicinal Islay body. Unfortunately there just seems to be a bit too much oak for something as mature as a 15-year-old vatted malt.

The finish is smooth much like its black and blue labelled brothers. This is a complex and layered whisky however I am missing the balance that a 15-year-old vatted malt should have.

I feel as if this whisky is now overrated. There just isn't enough going on to justify the price point but if you haven't experienced a single malt or any peated whiskies I would recommend this as a first step into the realm of whisky/ peated whiskies.

I would rate this whisky 75/100

I feel time will make this whisky more palatable but it definitely is worth a look if you haven't tried it.

I just wish the price point was closer to that of black label given the lack of maturity in the taste.

Special drop

I have a bottle which was purchased in 2001 under the old labeling johnnie walker pure malt 15 extra special which makes it 36 years. Trouble is wife won't let me drink it.

JW Green Label...best of an average range from Johnny Walker!

JW Green Label...the best of an average range (Black, Double Black, Red, Gold, Blue) etc from JW Blenders.
Come on JW, wake up, give we customers (not Consumers) much better value and presentations please? You have been in the business long enough to recall that it is ordinary customers who have made your brand a success....NOT THE MARKETING & COMMERCIALLY DRIVEN BULL-SHITTERS that pervade and are rife in and amongstthe Scotch Whisky industry.
Positive, constructive criticism given when justified, such as this is, should be thought of as 'gold dust' for your future production & sales strategies.

Sending sincere best wishes to all at Johnny Walker.

A solid favourite for as long as it lasts.

I've tried all the single malts in this blend after trying my first JWG a few years ago. All are worthy of note and the Talisker is my firm favourite. For complexity and aftertaste the Talisker will always be my go to, but any relative who gifts me a bottle of JWG will definitely receive a superior gift in return. A bottle of Johnnie Green will last months on my shelf as I ration my drams to enjoy them to their fullest. Lesser drinks (and I count some single malts amongst that number) will not enjoy such a rarified shelf time.

The best Johnny Walker for me.

Of the more expensive Johnny Walker whiskeys, this is the best for the price. A nice blend of single malts.

A little too peaty for my taste.

Doubtless a quality whisky, but little bit too strong on the peat and smoke for my taste. I shan’t knock it, but I prefer the milder Black label.

Incredible stuff

My now favorite blended scotch!!! This is the best blended I've ever tasted. Git myself a bottle for Christmas and it's almost gone by now. Has more sweetness than Black Label and for the price it is much better value than Blue. Amazingly balanced flavor and great after taste. Now I know why it got such high score on Whisky Bible. Pure excellence
