Jameson Crested Bottling Note

A rebranded version of one Jameson's best kept secrets, the previously confusingly named Crested Ten, which wasn't ten years old and was hard to find outside of Ireland. Having dropped the "Ten", Crested has now been relaunched internationally.

The first Crested release came in 1963, with Jameson beginning to bottle their own whiskey (rather than selling to bonders) and it's known to have a healthy proportion of pot still whiskey as well as a high proportion of Sherry casks used for maturation (bourbon barrels are also used).

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: A luscious sweet aroma of maple butter leads with plenty of chalky vanilla and caramelized sugars. Complex Irish pot still fruitiness is present too, with bitter citrus, apple skins and marmalade. Ginger and clove add spice and warmth underneath with a touch of roasted nuts.

Palate: Through creamy vanilla and a malty element, there are helpings of gentle sherried fruit, coconut and honey-toffee sweetness. Apricot and peach melba emerge with a touch of milk chocolate among spiced nuts, peppery mint and prickles of pot still spices.

Finish: In a long finish, there’s warming honeyed sweetness, mild drying oak spice and a hint of sherry-scorched wood.

Overall: The ideal introductory dram, it’s outstanding value for money and utterly delicious in a complex, interesting way.

Jameson Crested Reviews

Great whiskey for the price

The nose is barley sugar, caramel, vanilla ice cream and apple, very friendly and pleasant.
Has a nice mouth feel, slightly thicker than standard Jameson, the sherry element comes to the fore, with a nice spice tingle alongside a little creaminess and some bready malt. A very easy drinker.
The finish is quite long for a 40% ABV whiskey, deep oak, honey and old school toffee bars.
A winner for the money, but still just prefer the Caskmates Stout version.

not worth

Very disappointed with this one. I grew up on standard jameson, to me still the best basic choice whiskey out there. Also love black barrel, however, Crested felt like an inferior, more alcohol-y tasting version of standard jameson which is crazy to me considering it's a good bit more expensive. It also has quite an unpleasant lingering aftertaste.
If you're shopping in this price range stick to standard jameson or go for black barrel is my best advice.

Excellently delicious

Deliciously smooth taste that's affordable and rewarding.. Silky texture with a crisp smooth finish.. One of the best I've tried from the Irish island..

Crested jameson-A1

A big Jameson fan. Only tried a crested Jameson today after being used of the original Jameson for years. A very smooth sweet taste. Highly recommended

Definitely Jamesons 😅

On the nose creamy vanilla, green apple, ginger bread and demara sugar. Smoother on the palate with vanilla, shortbread biscuits, apricot and hazelnut spread. Finishing off with more of that shortbread which turns in to gingerbread and a slight oak wood spice

Up there with the best

A real challenger to the top level Scottish Malts. Smooooth on the pallet and a real joy to drink.

SMOOTH!!!

Not the best whisky ive ever had but for a cheap bottle its pretty good. The usual caramel taste of jamesons and by far the smoothest whisky/ whiskey ive ever tasted.
