Isle Of Jura Journey Bottling Note

Journey is the entry level expression from the Isle of Jura range (which was relaunched in mid-2018). It was aged exclusively in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 40% ABV. A tasty introduction to Jura's single malts.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Melted butter, sugared almond, a very light hint of smoke.

Palate: Honeyed-drenched pear, toffee and pencil shavings.

Finish: Oily walnut and light apricot sweetness.

Isle Of Jura Journey Reviews

Naw Bad

Nothing like bells whiskey, obviously a bells employee. Thought this was really good value for money and no headache. Some should just stick to Gin!

Lovely, maybe ignore reviews

I have only just started to get into single malt whisky and this was the first bottle I bought for myself (I'd done a Jura led whisky tasting about a year or so ago and remembered I enjoyed it and the experience in general). I got the small 20cl bottle as a gift for my dad this Christmas and bought one for myself last week. I enjoyed it so much, smooth and sweet and slightly peaty and smoky which was perfect for me (beginner!) However I was going to buy a 70cl today but checked reviews and saw that another whisky that was cheaper had better reviews so I thought I'd give that a go- I've learnt my lesson to take reviews with a huge pinch of salt. I'm glad i branched out and tried something new but i do wish I'd just gone with my gut and got the jura or maybe tried the 10yr version again.

Headache inducing.

It didn't take long to narrow down that this is what was giving me a headache and ironically I noticed that someone else on here has this problem. I'm not sure if it's the colouring or something else, but whatever it is my head start to ache within minutes of drinking it so I'll need to chuck the bottle.

Furthermore, the nose was bothering me as it was familiar, yet I couldn't put my finger on it. Then it clicked; it's exactly the same smell as emulsion paint. Very off putting indeed.

At this price point something like Highland Park 12 is far better.

Excellent value Malt Whisky

Excellent dram. Great price too. Lovely peaty taste. toffee after taste . Perfect with my Red Leicester cheese & sliced smoked ham snack. I notice many comments refer to Jura as a “whiskey”, it is a Whisky! 🥃

Entry level

Quite harsh but still better than haig club

Lovely tasting whiskey, with fruit+ smoke flavor,at a very good price for an entry level whiskey.Far too much whiskey snobbery about the joy is in the drinking and if you like something you like it.

in line with Bells

Suggest you spend your money on Bells and keep the savings

Book a different holiday.

Nose: There's a damp leather, spice is zombie like, knuckle dragging through the dirt.

Palate: A gas spore with little to say for itself on the skin. Some wood spice.

After: This ghost fades quickly.

Not great

Less than impressed.
Tastes a bit like Jameson to me.
Better off spending your money on Jura 10 year or Better still, Balvenie or Aberfeldy.
