Isle Of Jura Journey Bottling Note

Journey is the entry level expression from the Isle of Jura range (which was relaunched in mid-2018). It was aged exclusively in American white oak ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 40% ABV. A tasty introduction to Jura's single malts.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Melted butter, sugared almond, a very light hint of smoke.

Palate: Honeyed-drenched pear, toffee and pencil shavings.

Finish: Oily walnut and light apricot sweetness.

Isle Of Jura Journey Reviews

so good value for its price.

Simple smooth whiskey which might be too bland for most complex whisky enthusiasts.

Very nice

Despite negative reviews I really like this whiskey, it’s light, peaty and full of flavour.

Not worth, weak body.

Its my first experience with Jura, and it is not really good. A little bit watery. High price for this quality.

18th April 2019

Harsh on the palate. Difficult to believe its a single malt. Horrible

I have never been a lover of the peaty malts, and from the description I thought this was supposed to be a little lighter on the peaty flavour. I am so disappointed. There is nothing smooth about this. It really is harsh on the palate and frankly horrible. For the £22 I paid, I could have enjoyed a smooth Jamieson blended whisky from across the water, or better still a triple distilled blended smooth Bushmills for the same money..

Disappointing

First one of the new Jura range that I've bought and it's not even worth it's price. Hugely lacking in every aspect and immediately forgettable. I realise that this is the most basic expression of the range, but before it was Jura 10yo and it held it's weight, being affordable yet floral, light, welcoming and stylish (when it comes to both - taste and packaging).

This costs the same, but is not even close to old 10yo in any aspect. Looks and tastes cheap and is better avoided.

Loved all previous ones but Journey is nothing what Jura is about...

Bad :(

Unimpressed

Sweet but lacking anything to set it apart. No smokiness apparent and nothing to qualify as a good single malt. Very disappointed.

Love this whiskey my Favourite light and fresh

Love this whiskey light fresh and great to taste has taken me away from my fav Irish.

12th November 2018

Tasteless

Not a fan.. Very weak and tasteless to be honest. I expected more from Jura.. And it's overpriced, for the quality alone its should be £25 maximum, not the hefty £35...overall very disappointed...

Sweet and fruity , enjoyable and straight forward

This is a very nice whisky but more like a light sweet Speyside with no obvious peat , if you expect Isla then you will be disappointed. If you’re not keen on mental peat then you might prefer this. I like it.

Poor

Not a fan.. Just really poor and it has nothing about itself to entice another drink.... Lacks flavour and weak...

My favourite at the moment

Very nice sweet whiskey with the slight smokey hint towards the end. A very nice whiskey and a good one to start on.

Sweet and okay.

Jura and Islay are neighbours so I was hoping for something peaty, smoky, dirty.

This is quite sweet though - reminds me of raisins and dried fruit. I usually like Scotch with a drop or two of water - I don’t think Journey can handle it though.

It’s okay but a little one dimensional. 3* if it’s on offer, 2* if it’s full price.

For the same money I’d rather get a Talisker Skye, Bowmore No.1 or Aberlour 12 depending on what you’re after.
