Isle Of Skye 21YO Bottling Note

Full-bodied and packed with honey'd malt, brown sugar, banana chip and elegant peat smoke notes, the 21 year old Isle of Skye blended Scotch whisky from Ian Macleod makes a very good impression indeed. If you're a fan of the range (which features an 8 Year Old, a 12 Year Old and an 18 Year Old), this one ought to be in your drinks cupboard...

Isle Of Skye 21 Year Old (Ian Macleod) Reviews

C'est ce n'est pas une Talisker

Agree with all the notes from the previous review, but for someone who loves cask strength whisky it feels really muted at 40%. On the nose it has complexity and real promise but this whisky takes some time to fully appreciate. It's a deliciously smooth sweet fruity oaky extract of barley spirit. Lovely dram - but not a 21yo Talisker.

Salted smoked caramel chocolate in a glass

As a big fan of the 8 & 12 year olds I was expecting great things from this and although it does deliver lots of fat & juicy smoked salted caramel & chocolate it does not justify the huge price tag. A subdued nose of dried banana and ginger cake with a sprinkling of salted demorera sugar and a fairly short finish let it down but this is all about the mouthfeel and that big rich delivery of salt, smoke, toffee, honeycomb, runny honey and buttery oak. I guess 21 year old Talisker in the blend is to blame for the price? The Whisky Flaneur
