Highland Queen Blended Bottling Note

The standard release of Highland Queen blended Scotch whisky, named after Mary Queen of Scots. Like much of the range, it offers very good value for money.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Some dark honey, caramel, allspice, cooked apples and pear drops.

Palate: Crisp apples now, nougat, more honey, subtle vanilla, perhaps even some tarragon.

Finish: Clean and quite short.

Overall: For a basic blend, you could do a lot worse!

Highland Queen Blended Scotch Whisky Reviews

Great whisky

It's even less expensive where I live from what it is shown in the website. Let's say it cost 12$ and that's the best you can get for that price. I tasted most available blended, even the 25$ ones and this stand above them all. I love the taste of the honey, the finish is short and not bitter as I was a expecting. It's quite sweet and not a sharp burning whisky. I really like it

The best blended!

Mild but great taste. A completely different category than what Price tells. Exceeds most if you prefer a mild whiskey.

Cheap and not even worth that price.

Highland Queen is one of the cheaper blended whiskies and it's easy to understand why. The nose is unobjectionable but unremarkable. The palate was of old raisins long past their "do not use" date. The only good thing about the finish is that it's short. It was similar to that artificial liquid smoke used with cheap hams. This was the only bottle of whisky that I have ever returned to the store.

Why have I not tried this one before .

There are plenty of blends out there and this is the first time I am enjoying this one. Yes enjoying , price quality range is 100%. First it hits you deep sweet caramel and appels then comes the rougher part but still very plaesent . One if these whisky's I could share with friends on one if the long cold winter nights around the open fire. Great stuff .

Fekkin great.

I feekin love it. Here in Memphis scotch is waayyy over priced. But Buster’s has this Highland Hootch at only 10 bucks a bottle. This is some good tasting stuff. Price wise it compares with vodka with a whole lot more flavor. As long as Buster’s keeps stocking it I’ll keep buying it. Mad Max

Mellow whisky with lots of flavours.

Really mellow whisky. Mild taste with a relaxing feelingl. Lots of flavours with minimal ethanol burn. I will recommended for those who like to enjoy true blended whisky rather than just drink it.

Not many better at the price

Tried it when my usual black bottle was unavailable and was not disappointed.
Will likely stick with my BB but happy to know that this is sitting in reserve.

Tastes like liquorice

Hi I am a vivid drinker of Highland Queen Whiskey but lately i taste an aroma of aniseed is it normal or did you change your casckings for maturing

Lovely taste, smooth, until last litre purchased. Terrible.

Buy approx a bottle a week for many years, very good. But, very unhappy with last litre bought.

Tastes like liquorice and smells awful. Don't know if I should continue buying.

A nice whiskey for the price

I like it, it’s crisp and has a nice honey style body, very drinkable and a very developed flavour for the price point.

Nice smooth whiskey. There's little that's better at this price.

25th May 2018

rum-like whiskey

Too much rum-like whiskey to me. Too much vanilla and caramel. Add a few coins more and you'll get much better stuff.

Nothing better at this price. Very smooth.

Very good for the price

Good casual whisky

Lot worse out there, I'd buy again.

I'm a noob to whisky so no flash descriptive flavour notes. Least i can say this is very drinkable. Smells nice like honey/vanilla no off putting odours, and unlike some of the cheap ones out there it is smooth, sweet, crisp and fresh to drink, nice with a cube of ice on a warm day. If it only had a finish and a bit of smoke it would be much better, be good base for a mixer. Value for money for an everyday drop.
