Larceny Kentucky Bourbon Bottling Note

The famous bourbon brand Old Fitzgerald was named for John E. Fitzgerald, who according to a family biography of Pappy Van Winkle may have been a rather more colourful character than we imagine!

Fitzgerald, it seems, was a bonded treasury agent, one of the only people to carry keys to the storage warehouses. Apparently he also had a taste for the very finest bourbons and didn't mind helping himself! It was this infamous character with the fine palate who was immortalised by the brand back in the 1880s.

Larceny is a smooth, small batch, sipping bourbon that uses wheat as the secondary grain rather than the more conventional choice of rye. Yummers.

User Reviews of the John E. Fitzgerald Larceny Kentucky Straight Bourbon

A gem

If you can find it, but it! Great nose, taste and overall balance. Out plays some of the bigger name bourbons.

This is a steal (No pun intended)

This Bourbon is a steal at about 20.00 dollars a bottle. Very smooth. Has a great nose and sipping is excellent. Straight up with a splash of water is all it needs to really shine.

Not a Bourbon guy but an Irish fan! Tried the Larceny as it's a very reasonable buy here in the states. It's a sweeter more viscous bourbon. If you have a sweet tooth this Louisville gem is for you!

Pity it's overpriced in Europe

That's the only problem about it, really. Excellent for sipping and thinking.

Excellent Sipping Bourbon

In brick-and-mortar stores this usually sells between $35-$50. It's an excellent sipping bourbon--smooth with a slightly oaky bouquet. Goes exceptionally well with a splash of ginger ale and other light mixes.
