Haig Dimple 15 YO Bottling Note

Haig Dimple, or 'Dimple Pinch' as it's called in the US of A, recently popped up in everybody's favourite programme Breaking Bad! A blend with a high malt proportion, including whiskies from Glenkinchie and Linkwood.

"Dimple Pinch. Neat."

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Medium-body with warming notes of spice and caramel.

Palate: Well-balanced with smooth notes of honey and toffee, a little smoke and malted barley with just a hint of oak.

Finish: Short and there are notes of fudge and oak.

Haig Dimple 15 Year Old Reviews

Просто...жалко!?

От десетина години пия Dimple!?
Промяната е очевидна...вече е все така меко , пивко , баз вкус и аромат...празната чаша не остава мирис на нищо...
Вече не го и купувам, приятели ме черпят но уви...само името му остана!?

Good stuff

First time buyer too. Always read about it and seen it in bars. Gentle yet spicy, and I'm in line with most of the reviewers here. Solid three and a half stars. Won't change your life, but it's good. A whole lot better than big house blends. With malts I drink Balvenie 15 and Glenfiddich 12 and sometimes Bunnahabhain. Like Grants for blended, go figure.

Old Dad's whiskey

This was my dad's whiskey as I recall growing up. Never gave it a try in the 20+ years I've been drinking Scotch until tonight. Generally a single malt kind of guy, JW Black when going blend.

Anyway, bottle caught my eye this evening at the shop and a great bargain at 25% under the Black so let's give it a try.

Quite pleasantly surprised by the smooth and easy drinkability. Nice soft spice on the nose, little burn up front. Caramel, touch of smoke, woodiness. Quick finish the only drawback to me.

Recommended at the price point. I'll drink again.

Dimply the best

I normally drink single malt and don't go anywhere near blends. I was gifted this bottle and I have to say that I am very pleasantly surprised, very nice dram indeed!

Don't miss this one.

Excellent value for money. Similar to Antiquary 12 43% ABV, yet refreshingly different. The age shows. Very smooth, sweet and the faintest hint of grassy smoke. I managed a 42.8 ABV Litre bottle, and quite like that extra strength.
Where does JW Red Label feature. I think that brand is among the worst 10% of lousy blends.

18th August 2017

Very good value.

Smooth and smokey, but does not taste like an ashtray. Velvety nose with hints of fruit. A very good blended whiskey.

18th August 2017

Way above it's price point.

Contrary to some opinions expressed, this is much better than JW Red. It is super smooth, sweet, with no smoke. The nose is of fruit and Sherry, with A hint of malt. The palette is incredibly smooth and the finish is short but easy. The short finish is it's biggest weakness. The 15 year age is evident. In it's price range, this is very good. Of course it can't compete with some higher end Scotches, but it isn't trying to. For the price, this is a masterful blend.

Best Scotch I have ever had

I hate scotch. Seriously. I wish I liked scotch. But it just seemed to me that scotch in general has such a negative finish that I never tried the same one twice. Then I tried Dimple Pinch. Fire on the front end, with such a smooth finish I couldn't believe it was scotch. This is my new drink of choice. Simply spectacular.

Worth the price

Nice blended scotch. Definitely better than Red label by far (but just my humble opinion). I prefer single malts and usually try them first, but saw this on sale and gave it a whirl. Its a bit 'deeper' than Chivas 12. It's very smooth and sweet, with a bit of spice in the end. I like JW double black as my 'blend of choice' (within that price range). I'd consider buying it again.

Please Consider.

Not worth the Money; if you are planning on buying this whisky—it is best You reconsider &
Buy a better blended scotch like Johnny Walker Red Label@ the least. Though this claims to be 15 Yr old, It smells & tastes like a much Younger whisky. The finish is Flat and fades off rather quick. This Has no Real Taste whatsoever.
Unless You Like Boring, tasteless whiskey,
This is the bottle to pick. Trust me, There are better quality blends out there for Your money:
Chivas 12, Johnny Black, Dewars 15 the Monarch,
To name a Few.

Forget Heisenberg. This suff is a pure Quantum Field Theory elegant juice. Oh My!!

What can you say? Its pure elegance from start to finish.

2nd January 2017

I like it

Nice for me;

20th November 2016

Deeeelish.

So good you will have to guard yourself from enjoying it too much and too fast. This juice should be savored to the very last drop. Enjoy.

10th September 2016

Among the best.

It is upthere among the best. I am rotating between Chivas 12, Dimple 15, Chivas 18, Wootford Reserve, Jack Daniels single barrel, Hennessy Fine and Hennessy regular. I am not afraid to admit, that there are days that I think Dimple 15 is the best of all mentioned here. And is most versatile pick of all those. And yes. If your palate likes Chivas 12 over JWB 12 (like me), then you are gonna love Dimple 15 even more than Chivas 12.

Ken's favorite

The best blend out there!

Erhan

This is Dimple 15 years old at 40 % abv, Dimple Pinch is 43 % abv and I think for the US market only. The 40 % abv is a great dram and a great buy. But, more alcohol more flavor, so I say give Pinch a chance too. You won't regret it...

Smogger

Got a bottle on golden mile in Edinburgh. A favourite since 1978 when first tasted so had to buy one. A very good blended whisky with some complexity, yet so palatable and quoffable. So smooth and silky. I agree it's such a shame it's not easily available but not tasted this for 30+ years. I did enjoy both the anticipation and the tasting. Enjoy this really good 15 y.o. blend or if you can get one!

28th January 2016

Excellent Stuff

My second favorite after Ballantine's 17, although B17 is in a higher price bracket. The Dimple is very good indeed and one of the few blends with a decent finish with a touch of oak an smoke. I can't understand why this is no longer readily available in the UK. It is yet another Diageo marketing mystery along with the demise of Johnnie Walker Green that does not make any sense to us mere mortal consumers.

13th January 2016

Best Bang for your Buck

You'd have to spend a lot more money to find a better blended scotch.
By the way, "Pinch" is 12 years old and "Dimple Pinch" is 15 years old. They aren't the same thing. I've seen Pinch, but never tried it. I'll stick with the older sister.

Motor City Whiskey Girl

Nose rounds out in the glass nicely. Very mild and smooth on the tongue. Fast finish with no lingering. A good starting glass of whiskey. A tad sweet. Almost delicate. Definitely a sipping whiskey and not for mixing, where it would get lost. Good value.

10th December 2015

Very pleasant surprise

I've been a single malt fan for over forty years so when I received this blended whisky as a retirement present I put it in a cupboard and never gave it much thought. I was going off for a week's break and was looking for a suitable single malt to take with me for my evening tipple when I decided to take along the Haigs 15 year old instead. It was a very, very pleasant surprise so much so it's high up on my list of weekend drams.

VRK

One of the best blended scotch I have had.

Gilbert B. Foree

This is one of my favorites. I was drinking this b/4 they renamed it to "Dimple" it has always been "Pinch" to me.

13th May 2015

Dimple reaches far back in Hollywood

Everyone mentions Breaking Bad, but it should be noted that in the early Thin Man series William Powell drinks Dimple Pinch. If good enough for Wm Powell, its good enough for me. Actually this is a great blend. Well balanced with notes of Carmel and malt w/o a long finish. A top shelf whisky.

7th May 2015

Why oh why is this so difficult to buy?

This is one superb whisky! It is big in the mouth, has a slightly peaty start, descending into smooth and warming caramel notes and certainly a fortified wine barrel finish... sorry for the Goolden touch.. but is seems that Dimple is now export only, or buy expensively via websites???!!! Spending several months of the year close to the Spanish border, I find both Dimple and Pinch (also great!) at around €19 a bottle..... lucky me!

20th February 2015

Very nice

I received this from my father in law and I really enjoyed it. I am usually an Islay scotch drinker, so this was a nice change of pace. This is a very good priced Scotch and has gotten very popular since it was showcased on the tv series Breaking Bad (it was Walter White's final drink).

6th January 2015

Dimple or Pinch it's still elegance in a bottle

My grandfather and my father thought this was the finest of its kind going back to the 1930's. An elegant and refined blend, Dimple (or "Pinch" as it was known) is still this household's favorite

29th May 2014

Search to the ends of the earth if you have to...

By far the most complex and pleasurable scotch I have ever tasted. Normally when you have a large change from tongue to after taste....one of them is bad. This has a beautiful smell. It has a smoothness that can't be matched. And it is all wrapped up with an after taste of slight nuttiness that makes you beg for more.

This just leaves me speechless. It is amazing. No other words for it. My favorite scotch. Find some so you can enjoy it as I do.

@dimple Pinch?

The Dimple Pinch is the name of this blend in the USA, which also explains the size of the bottle. But they are the same product. --The Chaps at Master of Malt

dimple Pinch?

my bottle has "the dimple (small letters} Pinch( letters about 4 times bigger). i cannot find this on any site. is it rare? it is a 750 ml bottle of 15 year blended scotch

Heisenberg-tested, Heisenberg-approved

The Vacuum Repairman told me not to leave my safe house, but I had to walk the 8 miles in the snow to this one-horse town just to get a taste of that sweet, sweet Dimple Pinch.

It's Heisenberg's signature drink!

A very enjoyable drink and an affordable luxury. I rate it very highly as a blended Scotch.

This is not single malt, it's blend of Malt and grain whiskies.

5th January 2013

simply the best I have ever tasted...

This was the first single malt whiskey I tasted and the best! I have tried other single malt whiskies as well but nothing comes closer...

An elegant blend which will grace any bar cabinet. Rich and complex with higher proportions of aged malts, this whisky has a body, aroma, palate and finish of a vintage thoroughbred. Pinch or Dimple has been bottled in this unique bottle for a generation and over and brings a big smile whenever I see this. Impressive and consistent over the years though the same cannot be said about its availability.
