Marmalade Appeal 1988 Bottling Note

This is a Wemyss Malts bottling of 1988 vintage Glenrothes single malt Scotch whisky, matured in a butt cask until 2015. 629 bottles were produced, and the whisky was given the name 'Marmalade Appeal'. We could make so many puns here. We could say it's an "appealing" bottling. We could make some sort of connection between the marmalade and "appeel", because, y'know, oranges and that. Exciting times for us writing these bottling notes.

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Chocolatey, complimented by citrus and malt. Quite floral malt, too.

Palate: Big ol' notes of ripe orange and Victoria Sponge. Subtle oak comes through on the mid-palate.

Finish: Lightly-browned toast with a thin layer of (you guessed it) marmalade. A dollop of Nutella too...

Marmalade Appeal 1988 (bottled 2015) - Wemyss Malts (Glenrothes) Reviews

Lively, light, orange and can't stop drinking

Completely surprised me. Bought a bottle on a whim since I was eating some marmalade on toast for breakfast. I'd expected the orange flavor but I hadn't expected the floral notes and absolute smoothness. Absolutely slayed me. Could not stop pouring a bit more and a bit more and a bit more. Lovely light, tasty, orangey. Just bought myself a second bottle.
