Sorry about this...

We can't actually ship Glenrothes Peated Cask Reserve to the United States at the moment (although we're working hard to fix that).

Glenrothes Peated Cask Bottling Note

A rather interesting release from the Glenrothes distillery in the Speyside region, which was finished in casks which previous held peated whisky from Islay. It somewhat feels like Glenrothes are harking back to the days when they produced lightly peated whisky - which was quite a long while ago indeed!

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Nose: Retains the well-rounded toffee and orchard fruit sweetness that Glenrothes whiskies are known for, with light suggestions of charred wood and moss.

Palate: Chilli-chocolate, wood smoke, slightly vegetal. A hint of Mars ice cream bars too.

Finish: Still quite spicy on the finish.

Glenrothes Peated Cask Reserve Reviews

I found a return to the peated of the Islay, with delicacy, that is, I'm enthusiastic about it, a good drama even from the price.

Not for me

I generally like Glenrothes but this expression is one I won't buy again. Strange taste almost as if the peat was an afterthought.

A good deal. Worth coming back to.

I like the lightly peatedness. A good compromise for me who likes peated and my wife who doesn't. And a reasonable price at $45. Nice nose and fairly complex finish too.

Can’t recommend

Normally I’m a HUGE Glenrothes fan, but this one misfires for me on practically every level

Interesting for an Islay Fan

Like the other review, I bought this because it was $40 and I often look for a palatable dram to go with food and not be too much of a waste. Overall this is quite nice. As an Islay fan, I find the peat incredibly light, while the rest of the whiskey retains a soft and sweet flavor. Very easy to drink. I may not buy it again, but no regrets. All round a solid drink that will no doubt be finished too soon.

Very disappointing dram

I'm a big fan of the Glenrothes line, but this expression doesn't work for me. Found her peat flavor so overpowering that it totally undermines the normal Glenrothes hallmarks.

Very interesting

Bought this for $40 because it sounded interesting and it really is. I'm not sure what to compare it to its pretty unique tastes like a blend of a Speyside and an Islay whisky. Seems like fruit and toffee and oak and smoke are all battling to be at the front of the flavor profile. Has a nice lightly peaty finish.Smooth but it tastes a little watered down I certainly would recommend this neat. I like the natural color though. All in all pretty interesting whisky I like it.
