Glenrothes 19 Year Old 1997 (cask 9259) - Un-Chillfiltered Collection (Signatory) Reviews

Needs Water and Time

When first trying this whisky it was an absolute brute. No subtlety, no harmony and there was a strange vinegar/sour note that dominated the finish. I was about to give up before leaving the cork off the bottle to oxidise and giving it time and water in the glass. After doing so it became unbelievably smooth, fruity and the over candied nature of Glenrothes was rather pleasant unlike normal, there were more spices, wood notes and a nice caramel note throughout the experience. Just take your time if buying a bottle.
