The Glenrothes 10yo Bottling Note

The entry level expression from the Glenrothes Soleo Collection, named for the sun-drying process for grapes destined to become sherry in Jerez - so expect a focus on sherried deliciousness here. Eschewing the vintages that previously featured on Glenrothes bottlings, the majority of these releases feature an age statement. This one is a 10 year old expression, matured exclusively in sherry casks and boasting a sweet, fruity flavour profile.

Glenrothes 10 Year Old - Soleo Collection Reviews

Sweet, light, slight spice

I really like this one despite the general consensus on here. Perfect everyday dram at the price.

Average

As has been alluded to before this is not a great malt, it’s drinkable and is fairly light and sweet but the finish is harsh yet lacking

Nothing special

Not much depth of flavour, pleasant enough to drink occasionally but rather disappointing finish

Excelent everyday dram

Smooth, little spyce with some sweetness. Perfect for beginers

Sweet with no depth or finish

Initially it’s very sweet and pleasant, but any notion of flavour or depth quickly dissipates, with the lack of finish quite worrying. A solid dram for those who don’t enjoy rich whiskies. Could really do with being at the 46% mark.

Enjoy a whisky but this was not for me

Came across quite bitter with a strong alcohol smell and taste that you normally find in cheaper drinks.

A tale of two drams :)

A strange one for me, the first time I was not impressed at all. Not much flavour and an overpowering alcohol smell and taste. The second time round I really enjoyed it, very fruity and could really taste the biscuit notes on the palate. More enjoyable than some other in price range (aberlour 12 and aberfeldy 12) I still have half a bottle left so interested to see how this one plays out. Definitely worth a purchase if on offer!

Bland

Very nice nose. Sweet honey and pineapple. Bit after that rather predictably bland. Weak on the palette and non existent finish. The 40% ABV doesn't help

Great whisky

On my second bottle of this in 6 months. Beautifully fruity and honeyed.

Lightweight Speyside done the way it should be

Although a rare find here in Canada, I was able to get a bottle of this and, must say, it is fantastic. This whisky is light, smooth, but surprisingly complex. Highly recommended.
